Question

What is the latest time at which one can still catch the witr [the odd-numbered night prayer] prayer?

Answer

It is the very end of the night, before dawn breaks, because the Prophet ﷺ said: The night prayer is in pairs. When one of you fears the onset of morning, he prays a single rakʿah, which makes what he has prayed odd. Its authenticity is agreed upon¹.

س: ما آخر وقت يمكن فيه إدراك صلاة الوتر؟

الجواب

ج: هو آخر وقت من الليل قبل طلوع الفجر؛ لقول النبي ﷺ: صلاة الليل مثنى مثنى، فإذا خشي أحدُكم الصبح صلى ركعةً واحدةً تُوتر له ما قد صلى متفق على صحته[1].
