How much must one catch to have caught the congregational prayer?
Answer
It is caught by catching one rakʿah, as the Prophet ﷺ said: Whoever catches one rakʿah of the prayer has caught the prayer. That is what the Prophet ﷺ said. Whoever catches less than a rakʿah has missed the congregation. His prayer is still valid, but he misses the merit of the congregation.

تدرك بركعة، كما قال النبي ﷺ: من أدرك ركعة من الصلاة؛ فقد أدرك الصلاة هكذا قال النبي ﷺ ومن لم يدرك إلا أقل من ركعة فاته أمر الجماعة، لكنه تجزئه الصلاة، ولكن يفوته فضل الجماعة.
