Cupping while fasting

Question
Does cupping break the fast, or has that been abrogated?
Answer
The scholars disagree on this. Some held that it invalidates the fast, because of the ḥadīth “The one who cups and the one who is cupped have broken their fast.” Others held that it does not break the fast, because of the ḥadīth of Anas and others that they disliked it only on account of weakness.
The scholars have differed on this. The well-known view is that it breaks the fast, and that the later of the Prophet’s ﷺ two positions was that it breaks the fast of the one fasting. Yet the disagreement remains, and the evidence on both sides is strong. It is therefore better for the believer to keep away from it while fasting, taking care for his religion, and to be cupped only at night.

هل الحجامة تفسد الصوم، أم هي منسوخة؟
الجواب
هذا فيه خلاف بين أهل العلم، منهم من رآها تبطل الصوم لحديث أفطر الحاجم والمحجوم، ومنهم من رآها لا تفطر لحديث أنس وغيره أنه كانوا لا يكرهونها إلا من أجل الضعف.
وقد اختلف العلماء في ذلك، والمشهور أنها تفطر الصوم، وأن آخر الأمرين من النبي ﷺ أنها تفطر الصائم، ولكن الخلاف قائم فيها، والحجة من الجانبين قوية؛ فالأولى من المؤمن أن يتباعد عنها أثناء الصيام، يحتاط لدينه، ولا يحتجم إلا في الليل.
